Laser Marking VS Ink Coding

Aug 05, 2024

Laser businesses such as laser cutting machines and laser scanning guns have long been involved in the manufacturing fields of various high-tech industries, and laser marking machines have always been highly concerned by downstream industries in the product packaging production chain. The laser processing equipment factory will perform complex operations such as product marking, product coding, and product coding when laying out market logistics. It is easy for manufacturers to confuse the working methods of laser marking and ink coding, making it impossible for manufacturers to start. How to choose the product label, the author will describe in detail as follows.

Functionally, the purpose of laser marking and ink jet coding is the same, both are for marking products, but their working principles are quite different.

In terms of their respective working mechanisms, the former laser marking machine operates the laser beam so that the surface of the marking material exposes the deep material due to evaporation or causes the physical change of the object to appear operation traces, so that the material flashes the required graphics and images. On the surface of the processed material, the surface of the material receives laser energy, and a thermal excitation process occurs in the reflection area, so that the temperature of the surface of the material (or coating) rises, and phenomena such as abnormality, melting, ablation, and evaporation occur. "Cold working" ultraviolet photons with high load energy can break the chemical bonds in the surrounding medium in the organic material, resulting in damage to the material during the cold working process. This type of cold working is of great significance in the processing of laser marking markers, because it is not thermal ablation, but cold peeling that does not produce "thermal damage" secondary impregnation and breaks chemical bonds. The inner layer and surrounding areas do not suffer from heat or thermal deformation.

The ink jet printer is the deflection of the electric field of the electric ink charged by the ink jet printer, and the ink is shifted out of the normal jet line and shot to the surface of the work object. For example, in QR code printing, the image of each black and white pixel block can be combined only if the vertical direction of the ink droplets is changed, so that the object to be printed and the nozzle move relative to each other. The cost is single, and the printing operation is easy to standardize and unify, while the cost of laser marking is relatively high, but the marking methods are diverse and the scope of application is wider. Manufacturers can choose the labeling method of their respective products at their discretion.
