The Differences Between Laser Marking Machines and Laser Engraving Machines

Dec 09, 2022

Many people refer to laser marking machines as laser inkjet printers, laser radium engraving machines, and laser engraving machines, but from a professional point of view, there are still some differences between laser engraving machines and laser marking machines. There are differences in definition, applied material, depth and speed, laser and price:

1. Different job definitions

The laser marking machine uses the laser beam to evaporate the surface material to expose the deep material, which causes the chemical change and physical change of the surface material to engrave the mark, or burns part of the material through light energy to show the graphics and text that need to be etched.

Laser engraving machine is a laser equipment that uses laser to engrave and cut materials that need to be engraved. It is also called laser cutting machine, laser cutting plotter, etc. Different from mechanical engraving machines, it uses laser heat to engrave materials.

2. Application materials are different

Laser engraving machines generally engrave or cut non-metallic materials. Laser marking machines are generally not used for deep engraving. They only need to engrave the logo content, and can mark on most metal and non-metal materials.

3. Different depth and speed

The laser engraving machine can engrave and cut in a large stroke size, and the engraving depth is far more than that of the laser marking machine; while the speed of the laser marking machine is much faster than that of the laser engraving machine, which can generally reach 5000 mm/ s-7000mm/s.

4. Lasers and prices are different

The optical path system of the laser engraving machine is composed of three reflective lenses and a focusing lens. The laser is generally a carbon dioxide glass tube. There are many types of lasers for laser marking machines, including fiber lasers and carbon dioxide lasers.

The price of the laser marking machine is different depending on the model and material, and its price ranges from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands; the low-power laser engraving machine for cutting non-metallic materials is much cheaper than the laser marking machine, but the high-power are also more expensive.
